About the Flying Cowgirls

The Flying Cowgirls are Texas girls to the core, but Carla and Keighley came to be ranchers from two very different paths.

Carla grew up in the Lubbock area, learning to fly airplanes and ride horses. She bought two longhorns as wedding presents to herself and her late husband Carl. Two quickly multiplied, and Carla now has a herd of prize winning longhorns and a herd of gentle Black Angus.

While her career in technology gave Keighley ample opportunity to work and live outside the U.S., she and her husband chose to put down roots on a ranch in North Texas. Their small longhorn herd started out as lawn ornaments to complement the grass runway, but quickly became a passion.

Carla and Keighley believe that treating the land and the animals with love and respect makes a difference to the future.
